Sleep Under the Aurora
Glass Igloo Stays in Finland
Spend a night in a heated glass igloo in Finnish Lapland and watch the Northern Lights dance above your bed. Included on our family & winter packages.
A night in a glass igloo is the most unforgettable way to experience Finnish Lapland — a warm, en-suite dome with a transparent roof that lets you fall asleep gazing at the stars and, on clear nights, the Northern Lights drifting overhead. It is the single most-requested experience by travellers heading to Finland, and it is built into several of our packages rather than sold as an expensive add-on.
Our glass igloos are fully heated thermal-glass domes at Magical Pond near Ruka-Kuusamo, with private bathrooms, comfortable beds and uninterrupted sky views. We pair the igloo night with our guided aurora hunts so you maximise your chances — if clouds roll in over the igloo, your guide can still drive you to clearer skies earlier in the evening.
What is a glass igloo really like?
Modern glass igloos are nothing like a traditional snow shelter — they are warm, insulated cabins with heated thermal glass that resists frost, an en-suite bathroom, a real bed and Wi-Fi. You sleep in comfort at room temperature while the entire roof above you stays clear for stargazing and aurora viewing.
Will I see the Northern Lights from the igloo?
On a clear, dark night with aurora activity, yes — you can watch the lights from your bed. Because weather is never guaranteed, we combine your igloo stay with separate guided aurora-hunting drives, so you have multiple opportunities across your trip rather than relying on one window.
When should you book a glass igloo?
Glass igloo nights are most magical between December and March, when there is deep snow and long darkness. They are extremely popular and limited in number, so we recommend booking your package 3–6 months ahead, especially for the Christmas and New Year period.

“Absolutely life-changing trip. We saw the northern lights on our very first night out in Ruka and I honestly burst into tears. The guide was so patient with us and made sure everyone got amazing photos. Will book again for my parents.”

“First time ever in snow and what an introduction! The snowmobile ride across frozen lakes was pure adrenaline. Oulanka National Park felt like something from a movie. Could not have asked for a better organised trip.”
