Helsinki is Finland’s elegant seaside capital and the entry point for nearly every Finland trip. A compact, walkable city of striking architecture, design boutiques, harbour markets and island fortresses, it is the perfect gentle introduction before heading north to the Arctic wilds of Lapland.
Our packages begin with a guided Helsinki city tour — Senate Square, Helsinki Cathedral, the Sibelius Monument and the Market Square — and several add a ferry day-trip to the medieval old town of Tallinn, Estonia, just two hours across the Baltic.
What to do in Helsinki
Highlights include Senate Square and the white Helsinki Cathedral, the Market Square and Old Market Hall on the harbour, the Sibelius Monument, the Design District, and a ferry to the UNESCO-listed Suomenlinna sea fortress. It is an easy, walkable day before the train north.
Helsinki to Tallinn day trip
Tallinn’s fairytale medieval old town is just a two-hour ferry from Helsinki, and several of our packages include a guided day trip — two countries in one holiday.
From Helsinki to Lapland
After Helsinki, our tours continue north on the overnight Santa Claus Express train, arriving fresh in Rovaniemi and Lapland the next morning. All transfers and tickets are handled.
